I was in the market for a new phone after dropping my Samsung Galaxy S8 and as I’m still in contract had to buy a device outright – I didn’t much fancy paying over £700 for a new Samsung handset through fear of breaking it again. A friend of mine has the older TUFFT400s which he thinks is great and after having a play around with it decided to get one of those.

Found out that there was a new phone the TUFF T500 so decided to go with that after looking at the specs and how it compares with my old S8 – half the price of a new Samsung plus it should last twice as long.

It’s definitely a lot thicker than my old phone but has a bigger battery and doesn’t need a case which is good. I’ve gotten three/four days use out of the phone before I’ve had to charge it again which is great. It can take a while to charge though so leave it on overnight.

I spend a lot of time out walking dogs and having a phone that can deal with getting dropped in mud or rained on is great, so far I’ve only dropped it a couple times and its hit the deck pretty hard without any worry. As the phone is chunkier than my last one I’ve found it’s easier to grip when wet – especially with gloves on.

Camera is good, better than the S8 I had but doesn’t have any of the fancy modes that the Samsung had not that I used them anyway. I’ve taken a few great shots of the dogs when out walking of an evening which have made great backgrounds. Has a 13 Megapixel camera.

Haven’t had any issues with using the phone, its on Android 8.1 which is quite new, screen is bright and easy to read, ringer is loud and it feels faster than my old phone.

Definitely recommend .
