Independently-run, with interests firmly directed to the care of you and your pets. We have served the community for many decades; originally a mixed practice for large and small animals, then in 2011 formed surgeries purely dedicated to pet animals.

We have a mixture of local surgeries, so we can be familiar with our clients’ needs, plus our central Solihull Surgery for more in-depth cases and emergency work. Our main surgery provides a centre for hospitalisation with 24-hour care, an in-house laboratory for rapid, regular diagnostics 365 days a year, and more involved surgery and imaging for more intricate cases.

At 608 Veterinary Practice we offer a full range of routine pet care including:

Consultations • Vaccinations • Flea and worm treatments • Microchipping • Neutering • Nutritional advice • Advice on taking pets abroad • Home visits • Repeat prescriptions

I have been using the services of the 608 group in Acocks Green for decades, I`m 65. I have always found them a marvellous practice and staff exhibit the utmost standards of care and kindness towards pets and their owners. They may at first appear a bit more costly than some of the other vet surgeries in the area, however, what they do not do at 608 is add sneaky `on costs` which can unexpectedly create large bills, so I am more than happy to recommend them. Straightforward and honest.

I recently used this practice for an injured animal and found that I was seen promptly, that the veterinarian nurse was very helpful and informative and that overall the care myself and the animal received was satisfactory however the receptionist was unnecessarily rude to both myself and my partner and was less than welcoming on arrival. This is a great shame as the otherwise I would highly recommend the practice.

I cannot put into words what a great service Graham and the team at 608 do for our 7 cats. Always very informative and make sure you understand exactly what is wrong, what they are prescribing and what to look out for moving forward. I have used 608 for over 25 years and I would not go anywhere else. The 24 hour emergency service is something we could not live without as we have had to use it many times over the years. If I require a vet to call me to discuss an issue then they always do. I have sent a lot of friends and family to 608 and will continue to do so. Thanks so much for taking care of our babies.

My puppy attended the vets due to sickness and was admitted for 2 nights. I had to call them continuously as they simply did not keep in touch. When I got her home she had a severe eye trauma that no one could explain how she got. The vet even called me to ask if she had it when she came in....they checked the eyes on arrival and it clearly was not there. They were supposed to follow-up but did not, even though I asked for a call from the practice manager. Awful experience, I would never use them again

I had been going to this practice for many years and today my dog received the worst treatment I could ever imagine. I will never use these vets again and will be making a formal complaint with regards to how my dog was treated. Terrible terrible and very upsetting and distressing.
Owner's reply September 25, 2017

Dear Jacqueline, we are sorry that you were unhappy with your visit to us on the 9th. As you are aware, we have reviewed and responded to your complaint. We feel we did all we could on the day, including arranging an additional appointment to see the vet of your choice when a slot was not actually available. We received a letter of thanks in relation to the care given by the same vets on the same day and are just sorry that your own experience did not leave you with the same level of satisfaction. Kind regards Lindsey, Practice Manager.

I can't thank this practice enough, my cat was very ill, I couldn't get her to vet, they came out within an hour, after one day of treatment, her condition has improved, I've now changed to this practice from previous vet, who had no interest in animal wellbeing, Thankyou 608 team

Always been happy using 608 vets but tonight really disappointed me. Booked an appointment over the phone Wednesday just gone for tonight for my dog to have booster jab booked for 6.40pm. Got there no booking in the diary, fine mistakes happen apology accepted. But then to wait for over an hour for while others come and go and have to wait to see the night nurse (who was lovely) because everyone else has gone home is beyond me. We try to make our vet visits as stress free as possible and it was made ten times worse! By the end of it my dog was so agitated it was very stressful trying to keep her calm. All we got was an apology. That's great but that's an hour I won't be getting back and it seemed like nobody cared, they were more bothered about their shift ending

Calcifer - a kitten with 9 lives
We adopted two kittens in July and immediately noticed the little girl (9 weeks then) was very unwell. She had come to us with her brother from a charity and she had been neutered. Unfortunately the neuter had happened two days before she came to us. So initially I put her lethargy and lack of appetite down to the fact she was recovering. As she was a little cold I had her on my lap the entire day but as night approached she became almost icy, and in a panic my husband and I took her straight to 608 emergency. Here we learned that something seriously was wrong and that she may not live the night. We left her there tearfully and visited her for weeks. The vets were astonished at the urea acid (sorry can't remember what it was exactly) were so high - in a cat with a kidney disease they would be high, but our little baby kitten was like 5 times higher than even that and they were surprised she had survived the week there. The best option, we were told was to put this little one down. I just couldn't do it. I know I had had her for only a few days but I really wanted for her to live. So I bargained a day, and then another. Finally I agreed that if the levels hadn't reduced by Monday once the drip was taken off she would be put down. Monday approached and we found we had another vet dealing with us now - a lovely woman called Lesley. She was also taken with the tiny fur ball that our kitten was and said she would wait another few days before making that call. During this time she played with our cat and really bought her out of her shell - we were so happy to see her eating. Despite what had been said previously Lesley said it might be an idea to do a scan of the kitty and noticed the kidney was swollen, and suggested it may not be kidney failure but maybe a really bad infection. We were willing to let her try new meds, and our kitten got better so slowly, but she did. When she eventually left 608 the nurses all came to say goodbye to her because they had all fallen in love with her! And if Lesley hadn't gone the extra mile, we wouldn't even have the extremely naughty and boisterous 7 month old kitten we enjoy today! Thank you so so much

Our fourth emergency service
What can I say? We have had the services of the team at 608 for 35+ years. Through cats, hamsters, rabbits, and the odd mouse, the care has been solid, compassionate and honest. They watched our cats grow from kittens to well into their late teens and Jess who was 21 when she died. From support when things look a bit bleak, when reassurance that we can make it through this time, to honesty of when to say enough is enough and then to show compassion not only for their patient but also the owners. Mr Bone and his team at Westley Road have held our hands all the way. God bless you all, and thank you.

Have been using the 608 group for over thirty years and have found them an excellent practice and would recommend them every time. We live next door but one to the Sheaf Lane surgery and have always been more than happy with the service given. It is just a pity that Mel is no longer our local vet as in our opinion he was second to none - very much missed.

Excellent care
I take Louis for acupuncture to 608, we've only ever had to wait once, for an emergency, the staff are wonderful with Louis and he's very much at ease with them.
Before his treatment began he couldn't walk for long and had to be helped up from a lying position, now he charges around after his ball and loves life again.
I am deeply indebted to 608, and to Lesley in particular, for giving my boy his life back, thank you so much.

Peace of Mind
I visited the surgery last month, with one of my dogs, with upset tummy, first class service as usual, no problem getting an appointment excellent examination very thorough and his treatment worked. The Vet explained if there were any further problems why a blood test would be a good idea which I understood what the vet would be looking .

I have 3 dogs all under 608 surgery I have used the Emergency service a couple of times in the past which is excellent, knowing a Vet is always at hand in an emergency is very reassuring its doesn't get any better than that Thank You for taking great care of my 3 doggies 608 I would not dream of going anywhere else.
