HERBAL REMEDIES FOR DOGS AND CATS

Anxiety and nervous behaviour in dogs and cats can be due to a number of very varied causes, from fear of a specific situation such as travelling, going into kennels or a visit to the vets to a habitual overall ingrained anxiety.

Herbal products are ideal to induce a calm and relaxed demeanour, but some cases will also benefit from the use of behavioural techniques from a qualified animal behaviourist.

Please view the 'Nervousness or Anxiety' leaflet below for more information and top tips.

Leaflet Anxiety

What are the signs?

Whether your pet just doesn't like loud noises very much, or it has developed into a more severe phobia, these are the common behavioural signs that are indicative of stress:

• Unable to settle and pacing the room

• Shaking, salivating and panting

• Destructiveness, howling or even toileting indoors

• Cowering, hiding or trying to run away

How can herbal products help?

Herbs are gentle but effective and our products are formulated by experts to reduce anxiety by lessening activity in the nervous system rather than relaxing muscles. This means that your pet can be relaxed and calm without it sedating or affecting their normal behaviour.

They virtually have no side effects and are successfully used over the firework period, with millions of doses being sold every year.

This results in pets being less concerned about the noises that would normally cause fear and distress, giving a calm firework period for owners and pets alike.

The Calming Combo Pack

As part of the Licensed to Chill campaign, Dorwest is offering the chance to purchase both Scullcap & Valerian Tablets and Organic Valerian Compound at a very special price!

They recommend with moderate firework phobias to start giving Scullcap & Valerian Tablets 10 days before (3-4 weeks for severe phobias) and then use the Organic Valerian Compound as a quick 'Top-up' when the fireworks are at their worst.

‘Purchasing the Calming Combo Pack, you save 20% on the price of buying the two products separately’.

Available in the following sizes:

Small  •  Medium  •  Large  •  Extra Large

Valerian Compound for Dogs and Cats

30ml • 100ml

The concentrated herbal extracts used in this liquid ensure that within just 30 minutes a noticeable change in behaviour occurs without causing drowsiness and the effects are quite short-lived. In situations that have a longer duration then we recommend also giving Scullcap and Valerian Tablets.

When faced with unexpected events like thunderstorms, Valerian Compound has a fast action and it can also be used in conjunction with Scullcap and Valerian Tablets in especially fearful situations and for phobic animals.

Phobias and nervous disorders can be really hard to deal with – both for pets and from their owners’ perspectives.

Widely used as a treatment for noise phobias and fears associated with fireworks, thunder and gunfire, as well as for general excitability and hyperactivity, this herbal medicine is one of our best sellers.

It calms and relaxes dogs or cats without causing drowsiness or sedation, enabling them to have improved concentration, making it ideal for use in showing, agility, or sporting activities.
